1. Health and Safety Policy
At Little Leaves Play Café, we are committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors, children, and staff.
Our goal is to prevent accidents and ensure everyone enjoys our space with peace of mind.
Our commitments:
We carry out regular risk assessments of the café and play area.
All equipment is inspected and cleaned frequently to ensure it remains safe and well maintained.
Staff are trained in basic first aid and safe working practices.
Emergency exits are clearly marked and unobstructed at all times.
We maintain a written accident log and report any incidents as required by law.
Cleaning products and hazardous materials are stored safely away from public areas.
If you notice anything unsafe, please alert a member of our team immediately.
We believe in safe play, calm moments and shared responsibility for a happy space.
2. Food Hygiene Policy
We prepare and serve food with care and in full compliance with the Food Safety Act 1990 and Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013.
Our café is registered with the local authority and subject to Environmental Health inspection.
Our standards include:
All staff handling food have received basic food hygiene training.
Food is prepared and stored at the correct temperatures.
Separate areas and utensils are used for raw and ready-to-eat foods.
We label allergens clearly in line with UK Food Information Regulations 2014.
All surfaces and equipment are cleaned and sanitised regularly.
Waste is disposed of safely and responsibly.
We aim to provide wholesome, freshly made food in a clean and calm setting.
3. Safeguarding and Child Supervision Policy
The safety and wellbeing of children is of utmost importance to us.
Please note that parents and guardians remain responsible for always supervising their children while in the café and play area.
We ensure:
The play area is designed for young children and regularly inspected for hazards.
Any damaged or unsafe toys are removed immediately.
A first aid kit and trained staff member are always available during opening hours.
All staff and volunteers are DBS-checked where applicable.
Any concerns regarding a child’s safety will be reported in accordance with safeguarding guidance.
Little Leaves is a shared community space — safe, respectful and nurturing.
4. Data Protection and GDPR Policy
We take your privacy seriously and comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect:
Basic contact information (name, email, phone number) for bookings or enquiries.
Optional marketing consent for updates or events.
Occasionally photographs, only with consent.
How we use it:
To manage bookings, communicate with customers, and provide services.
To send updates only if you have opted in.
We never sell or share your data with third parties.
Your rights:
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us via our website.
We value your trust and protect your information carefully.
5. House Rules and Code of Conduct
To help everyone enjoy our calm, family-friendly space, please follow these simple house rules:
Children must be always supervised by a responsible adult.
Little Leaves Play Cafe does not accept responsibility for the supervision of children
Parents/Guardians are responsible for the behaviour and well-being of the children in their care and must maintain supervision at all times.
Shoes should be removed in the play area; socks are required.
Please respect others’ play.
Food and drink must stay on your designated table at all times.
Please be mindful of hot drinks and food at all times, keeping them out of reach of children.
Please do not allow children onto any tables, chairs, shelves or the stage.
Please accompany your child to the toilet.
Your vehicle and its contents are left at the owner’s risk. Please also supervise your children at all times in the car park.
If you have any concerns about a child’s behaviour, please contact a member of staff as soon as possible.
Please report all spillages, incidents or accidents to a member of staff to ensure that we can provide any necessary assistance.
No outside food or drink is permitted, except for baby feeding.
Please stay home if you or your child are unwell (48 hours after sickness or diarrhoea).
Be kind to staff and other families — we all share this space.
Please report any damage to property or resources to a member of staff.
Parents and Guardians should note that whilst every consideration has been given for the safety of children using the play cafe, we cannot be held responsible for accidents, which occur as a result of children playing on the equipment or with our resources.
We want Little Leaves to feel peaceful and welcoming — thank you for helping keep it that way.
6. Photo and Media Policy
We understand that parents like to capture memories of their children playing. To protect everyone’s privacy, we ask that:
You only photograph or film your own children, unless you have consent from others pictured.
Our team may take occasional photographs for marketing or social media, but only with explicit consent from those identifiable.
We do not post or share any image without permission.
If you wish to withdraw consent at any time, please contact us.
We believe in joyful moments — shared respectfully and with care.
7. Bookings, Refunds, and Cancellations Policy
Bookings for play sessions, events, and café tables can be made via our website.
Full payment may be required at the time of booking.
Cancellations and refunds:
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the session will receive a full refund.
Cancellations 24 hours before may be transferred to another date, subject to availability.
Refunds are not available for missed sessions without notice.
If Little Leaves cancels a session, a full refund or reschedule will be offered.
We aim to be fair and flexible while keeping sessions running smoothly for everyone.
